AP Govt to Appoint Retired IAS Officer Dinesh Kumar as 12th PRC Chairman

 


AMARAVATI: In a major move for state government employees, teachers, and pensioners, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has decided to appoint retired IAS officer and former Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar as the Chairman of the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC). Official orders regarding the appointment are expected to be issued within the next couple of days.

Fulfilling Commitments to Employee Unions

The decision follows an assurance by CM Chandrababu Naidu during a Joint Staff Council meeting with employee union representatives on September 5. Having recently issued orders for the release of pending Dearness Allowance (DA), the government is now moving forward to fulfill its promise regarding the 12th PRC setup.

Scope and Key Mandate of the Commission

  • Salary & Pension Review: The 12th PRC will examine the current pay structure, allowances, and service conditions of state government employees, teachers, and pensioners.

  • Recommendations: Considering the rising cost of living, inflation, and state finances, the commission will formulate recommendations on minimum and maximum basic pay.

  • Expectations on Interim Relief (IR): Following the official formation of the commission, employee unions are expected to submit representations requesting the government to declare Interim Relief (IR) until the final PRC report is submitted and implemented.

Distinguished Career of Dinesh Kumar

  • 1983-Batch IAS Officer: Dinesh Kumar served as the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh from March 31, 2017, to September 30, 2018.

  • Key Positions: He has held several prestigious positions at both state and central levels, including Chairman of the Polavaram Project Authority and Union Textile Development Commissioner in New Delhi.

  • Recent Assignments: He state government recently appointed him as head of the single-member committee investigating the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) ghee adulteration controversy.
